Our Story: From Bean to Cup
Mak Coffee is built on a legacy that began in the 1930s, when my grandfather started growing Arabica coffee in Bicumbi, Rwanda. My father took over the farm in 1997, introducing new methods to help local farmers improve their yields and earn a fair income. After his passing in 2020, I continued the family business with the goal of honoring their work and supporting local farmers.
We source our coffee from family-owned farms in Rwanda and Uganda, where each bean is carefully hand-picked, sun-dried, and processed without artificial fertilizers. By roasting, grinding and packaging the beans locally in Upton, MA, we ensure that every cup delivers the best flavor.
At Mak Coffee, we’re committed to paying farmers a fair price for their coffee while providing our customers with high-quality beans. With every cup, you’re supporting farmers’ livelihoods and enjoying coffee made with care and dedication.
